HPV Self Swab Screening

Fiji Cancer Society Office
HPV self‑swab is a simple, private, and empowering way for women (aged 30 to 59 years old) to take charge of their health by screening for the human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus that can lead to cervical cancer. Instead of undergoing a pelvic exam, women are given a sterile swab and tube, and in a private space, they gently insert the swab into the vagina, rotate it for about 20–30 seconds, and then place it back into the tube for testing. This process is quick, comfortable, and less intimidating, making it easier for more women to participate in cervical cancer screening.
